Hi there,

I recently accepted Islam (04/11/2011) and a brother online asked me to write a story about my conversion. So here goes.

I was raised a christian by my parents but eventually I stopped practising it as i just didnt believe in it anymore. Primarily because in my heart I always believed in one God but felt that in christianity I was worshiping God and Jesus at the same time. I felt Jesus was not the son of God and should not be worshipped. So my search began for a new religion.

I first found Islam about a year ago when when my friend converted. After his conversion he started teaching to me a little about islam and I noticed how much he had changed. In appearance he now wore a long white robe and a turban and he spoke differently. I also liked how he was now a much nicer person than before, which increased my interest in Islam.

What appealed to me most while studying Islam was the monothiestic belief in One God and the islamic way of life. So i kept looking into islam for about a year and started conversing online on the islam chat channel on ICQ.

Eventually after a year I decided to convert. I knew that once I became a muslim I had to pray and fast like all other muslims and also give charity. And I knew I had to do start praying 5 times a day once I converted but that didnt stop me. I finally took the shahada online. It felt great, and I repeated it the next day in the mosque.

Luckily I converted just before Eid which was good. I had a great time my friend who was a great help he even gave me a robe and turban and also some sandals. So yeah thats my story :p
