How To Ask Allah

Post by Nisa » Wed Apr 25, 2012 3:36 am

Allah’s Messenger (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “When anyone of you appeals to Allah for something, he should ask with determination and should not say, ‘O Allah, if You wish, give me,’ for nobody can force Allah to do something against His Will anyway.” - Sahih Bukhari

Commentary: Suppose you had bought a lovely doll house for your daughter, or a great gift for your son and you asked him or her whether they would like to receive the surprises you had ready for them. How would you feel if their responses were, “Well, you can give it to me if you want to”?

So ask Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) passionately, from the bottom of your heart, for the good things that you want. Don’t just recite Duas, beg from Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) through your Duas.

People get irritated when you keep making requests from them. But Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) dislikes it when people don’t make requests from Him and they don’t ask Him for anything. To not ask Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) for good things is to be ungrateful towards Him. He wants to give us, so we shouldn’t have the attitude of not caring to receive what Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) wants to give.

Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) will give according to His Will, when and what He knows to be best for you. If your wishes are not granted in this life then you will be given your wishes in the form of good deeds on the Day of Judgement. So you always win by asking from Allah (subhana wa ta’ala).
"Jihad (holy fighting in Allah's Cause) is ordained for you (Muslims) though you dislike it, and it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows but you do not know"
- Quran 2:216
